Effect of Basicity on the Sulfur Precipitation and Occurrence State in Kambara Reactor Desulfurization Slag

Kambara Reactor (KR) desulfurization slag used as slag-making material for converter smelting can promote early melting in the initial stage and improve efficiency of dephosphorization. However, its direct utilization a slagging increase sulfur content molten steel since KR contains 1~2.5% sulfur. Therefore, this research focuses on effect basicity precipitation behavior occurrence state order to provide an academic reference subsequent removal from through oxidizing atmosphere. The solidification process was simulated by Factsage8.0. samples were analyzed X-ray diffraction (XRD) scanning electron microscope (SEM), amount CaS grains using Image-ProPlus6.0 software. thermodynamic calculation showed that crystallization temperature gradually decreased with basicity, crystals mainly existed matrix phase at silicate grain boundaries. A large number precipitated along boundary low-basicity (R = 2.5 3.0) slags fewer boundary, while density higher high-basicity 3.5, 4.0, 4.5) slag. With decreased, sizes sample increased gradually. synthetic form amorphous phase, increasing basicity.
